В период с 1999 по 2003 год был президентом Болгарской социологической ассоциации. В 1984 году получил степень магистра социологии в Софийском университете, а 1988 году — степень доктора наук в Институте социологии Академии наук Болгарии. Проходил обучение в университете Амстердама (Нидерланды) по программе Динамика развития науки и технологий. Совместно с профессором К. Кнорр-Цетина проводил этнографическое исследование научно-инженерной практики в оптических лабораториях Болгарии и Германии. С середины 1990-х активно изучает трансформацию научно-исследовательских и инновационных систем в постсоциалистических странах, а также развитие науки и техники в странах Юго-Восточной Европы после Второй мировой войны. Является исполнителем нескольких крупных грантовых программ фондов Европейского союза и США, среди которых TACTICS , PROKNOW и ATACD. Проводил исследования: «Пересмотр политики экономического перехода: Нео-Шумпетерианская модель (Центрально-Европейский университет), «Сети переходного периода» ( Фонд «Открытое Общество София») , «Сила электрического тока» (RiskMonitor Foundation).

Научные интересы: sociology of science and technology, economy of technical change, sociology of innovation, science and technology policy.
